What is JHSPH OpenCourseWare? The philosophy behind JHSPH OCW is to make JHSPH course materials now used in the teaching of almost all undergraduate and graduate subjects available on the Web, free of charge, to any user anywhere in the world. JHSPH OCW will not only advance technology-enhanced education at JHSPH, but it will also serve as a model for universities to disseminate knowledge in the Internet age. This venture builds on the tradition at JHSPH, and in American higher education, of open dissemination of educational materials, philosophy and modes of thought, and will help lead to fundamental changes in the way colleges and universities use the Web as a vehicle for education.
What is the JHSPH OpenCourseWare Image Library? The JHSPH Image Library is a collection of selected images from the courses posted on JHSPH OpenCourseWare. The Image Library is searchable by keyword and browseable by topic and course.
What are the goals of the JHSPH OpenCourseWare Image Library? The goal of the Image Library is to make the graphic content from JHSPH OCW courses easier to find and acquire on the object level. We hope that the Image Library will become a valuable resource for educators, students, and professionals who are need high-quality open content to enhance their own educational materials.
How can I use images from the Image Library? In most cases, images from the JHSPH OCW Image Library carry a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike license, which means that the content may be used, copied, distributed, translated, and modified, but only with proper attribution and for non-commercial purposes. Some images carry different license terms, and each Image Detail page includes image-specific license information. Please review the license terms for each individual image before using, copying, distributing, or modifying it.
How do I find images in the Image Library? There are three ways to find images: (1) search by using the Search Images box on the left-hand navigation bar; (2) browse by topic by clicking the View Images by Topic link; (3) browse by course by clicking the View Images by Course link.
How do I download images? Each image is provided in three sizes: Large, Medium, and Thumbnail. Select the image size by clicking on the corresponding link in the gray box to the right of the image on the Image Details page. All images are provided in JPG format.
Why do some courses have no images? Some courses in JHSPH OpenCourseWare do not include images that are distributable through the Image Library. In some cases, images from these courses will be added during subsequent phases of development.
Who owns the images in the Image Library? The Johns Hopkins School of Public Health owns the images in the image library. As owners of the copyright, the School reserves the right to license the images as it sees fit, and users should feel free to exercise their rights defined by the license terms as stated on each image's Image Details page.
Have the images been adapted from other sources? In many cases, the images in the Image Library have been adapted from other published sources, and we have tried to be conscientious about acknowledging these sources. Please contact us if you encounter any errors in the acknowledgement of sources.
How do I cite images from the Image Library? If you incorporate an image from the Image Library into your own work, please use the Citation Format provided on that image's Image Details page.
How do I send feedback about the Image Library? Click the Send Feedback link on the left-hand navigation bar.
